To no surprise Marty Turco is getting the start in net Friday against his former team in the town he called home for the first nine years of his career. This is what you call a no brainer. Early in the season many questioned Coach Q's choice not to play Turco when the Stars visited Chicago but we all knew there wasn't any way Turco wouldn't get this start.
During his time in Dallas, Turco played in 506 games starting 485 and putting together a record of 262-154. He holds many franchise records including wins, shutouts, and games played. I am sure he will get a very loud ovation from the crowd tonight.
In other news Marian Hossa is doubtful for the game. It is now being reported that he missed the third period of Wednesday's game due to the flu and not an upper body injury as first reported. It is expected that the newly acquired Michael Frolik will replace Hossa and skate alongside Troy Brouwer with Tomas Kopecky centering the line.
Fun note on Frolik is that he will be the first player in Hawks history to wear the #67 and only fourth player ever to even wear a number in the 60's.
The first place star will be without former Hawk, Adam Burish, who is out after breaking his orbital bone during a fight a week ago.
Puck drops at 7:30 as the Hawks try to extend their winning streak to 2 games.
