No Hossa no problem for Hawks
I really dislike Tomas Kopecky incase you didn't know. I have made my hatred very well known so you can imagine all the texts and tweets I was getting the other night as Tomas totaled 4 points on 1 goal and 3 assists in the Hawks 7-5 victory over the St. Luis Blues.
Overall it was a very nice homecoming for the Hawks after being on the road for 6 games. They got a little disinterested after being up 5-1 just about half way through the game, allowing the Blues to score the next 3 goals and pull within 1 with 14 minutes to play. Coach Q called his timeout and according to reports he may have upped his rating from R to NC-17 but they refocused and scored 2 goals to push the lead back to 3.
Five different Hawks scored the seven goals with Kane and Toews each scoring two a piece to go along with Tomas, Brouwer and Patrick Sharp scoring his 16th of the year.
Also as most times these teams matchup there were plenty of fights with John Scott, Nick Boyton and rookie Jeremy Morin all dropping the gloves. The funniest by far was when Cam Janssen went after Scott just 5 minutes into the game. Everyone had cleared out and it looked like they were about to go 12 rounds in the ring, very amusing for all at the UC.
In net Corey Crawford got his third straight start and his 4th straight win. He will be replaced in net Friday against Vancouver by Marty Turco who hasn't played since losing to Antti Niemi and the San Jose Sharks.
hawks get the net 3 at home starting Friday against Vancouver then the Flames on Sunday before getting to see old friend Adam Burish and his Dallas Stars on Wednesday before hitting the road for 2 games. Let's hope the improved play continues and there aren't any more injuries.
