I know this has nothing to do with the Blackhawks and it happened in the seventh round but how cool is it that Marty Brodeur got to announce the Devils pick of his own son.
A few days after the NBA draft where we see baseball hall of famer Barry Larkin's son Shane get drafted, it is very cool to see Anthony Brodeur, who is a goalie, follow in his father's footsteps.
The Devils had to trade a 2015 7th round pick to the Kings for the right to pick the younger Brodeur.
However this sweet story might have a bitter ending as this all happened the same day New Jersey drafted the presumed replacement for the elder Brodeur in Cory Schneider. The Devils traded their first round pick, 9th overall, to Vancouver for the goaltender.
Here is hoping that in a few years after Marty has hung up the pads, that Anthony is ready to push Schneider for the Devils starting spot.
