Jets Give GM 2-Year Extension
The Winnipeg Jets have liked the job done by Kevin Cheveldayoff during his first two years on the job. So much so they decided to add on two more years to his current deal.
The interesting part of this is that Cheveldayoff is entering just the third year of his original five year deal. Which basically means that he is now under contract for five more seasons.
Cheveldayoff came over to the Jets from the Chicago Blackhawks as they made their move from Atlanta to Winnipeg. He had served as assistant GM to Stan Bowman in Chicago.
In the two seasons since becoming GM the team has gone 61-56-13 and have not made the playoffs. This season will mark the team's move from the Eastern conference to the Western conference. Last season they missed the playoffs by just four points.
It will be interesting to see what the Jets can do this season in the new Central division. They will be joining Chicago, St. Louis, Nashville, Dallas, Colorado and Minnesota in the division.
