Coach Q returns to Hawks
Coach Q is back.
After spending four days in the hospital, for internal bleeding due to ulcers, and missing the last four games, Coach Joe Quenneville returned to Blackhawks practice on Wednesday and will coach the team Thursday.
The Hawks went 3-1 while Q was out and are currently on a two game winning streak. Over the last 7 games the up and down Hawks have collected 10 out of a possible 14 points.
Probably the best line Coach Q had while talking to the press was:
"I was on IR for a week with an upper-body injury,"
The defending champs are currently in a 4 way tie for 8th place in the Western Conference but if the season ended today they would be on the outside looking in on the playoffs. The upside of it all is the Hawks are only 7 points behind the 3rd seeded Phoenix Coyotes and only 2 points out of 5th place. The Hawks have 22 games left with only 9 of those home at the United Center.
Their next four games will be very important as they are all against teams they are trailing and competing with for a playoff spot. First up is Nashville (6th) on Thursday then a back to back with Phoenix (3rd) visiting the UC Sunday and then the Hawks traveling to play the Wild (5th). They finish up the four game swing Wednesday hosting the Flames (7th). After this four game stretch the Hawks will hit the road for five games playing all Eastern conference teams.
Like I have been saying for about two weeks now every game is a must win for this team if they don't want their season to end April 10.
