Incase you didn't notice on Saturday as the snow was coming down, Marian Hossa left the game during the first period. After the game coach Joel Quenneville said he had an idea and expected Hossa to miss sometime, but that we would know more Monday.

So now it is Monday and the word is that Hossa is going to miss 2-3 weeks with an upper body injury. The assumption is the injury could be his shoulder, but could be his back, and it happened when it was hit along the boards by Craig Adams.

Quenneville said that Brandon Saad will replace Hossa on the top line with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Sharp. I would also expect to see Patrick Kane get some time there as well. As of right now the Hawks haven't recalled anyone from Rockford so it looks like Peter Regin will return to the lineup tomorrow, after being a healthy scratch on Saturday. Coach Q also mentioned that they could move Andrew Shaw out to wing which might make sense with Regin and Hanzus both in the lineup.

Depending on how long Hossa is actually out, could determine where the Hawks fall come playoff time. Assuming he doesn't see the ice before St. Patrick's day (2 weeks from now March 17), he would miss games two games against Colorado and then games against the Red Wings, Sabres, Blue Jackets and Predators. After that are matchups against the Hurricanes, Blues and Predators.

I would assume that Hossa would like to be back, and that Coach Q would like him back, for that March 19 game against St. Louis. So far this season the Hawks have failed to beat the Blues, who they are battling for the division title.

If the Hawks do recall someone from Rockford to give them an extra man, I would expect that player to be Jeremy Morin. However there is also a good chance he could be dealt before the trade deadline on Wednesday, just like Brandon Pirri was on Sunday.

The Blackhawks will return to the United Center for the first time in five weeks on Tuesday when they host the Colorado Avalanche. It should be an interesting game as they try to return to the normal grind of the season.
