It was just a matter of time before the defending champs made a move and on a day where a lot of rumors with big names involved were being thrown around a much smaller move was made.
The Chicago Blackhawks have traded forward Jack Skille along with prospects Hugh Jessiman and David Pacan to the Florida Panthers for center Michael Frolik and goalie prospect Alexander Salak.
The interesting part about this is that Hawks GM Stan Bowman made the deal with the man he replaced in Dale Tallon who is the GM now of the Panthers.
Dale Tallon had this to say about Jack Skille who he drafted with the 7th overall pick in 2005.
"Jack is a high character, big, strong player who will add a physical presence to our lineup."
What? Are you kidding me? This makes me really wonder when is the last time Dale saw Skille play. If Jack was any or all of those things he would be getting ready to play the Oilers instead of packing his bags.
Skille had played in 79 games during parts of 4 seasons with the Hawks but only managed 25 points including 12 goals.
Hopefully this move puts some people on notice and they start to play up to their potential. Brouwer and Stalberg I'm talking about you because I have a feeling this was just the beginning of the shake up.
