Blackhawks promote from within
With Kevin Cheveldayoff heading north to be the general manager of the Winnipeg Trashers/Jets, Stan Bowman just had to walk down the hall to find his replacement.
The Hawks have promoted Marc Bergevin to the role of assistant general manager and Norm Maciver will fill the role of director of player personal which was Bergevin's old job. He also made one other in-house move by promoting Kyle Davidson to hockey administration coordinator from being a hockey analytics video analyst.
Also they decided to extend the contract of Stan's dad, Scotty, who has been serving as a senior advisor since 2008.
Both Bergevin and Maciver both played in the NHL while Bergvin is a former Hawk.
The fun rumor which was started by Jesse Rodgers of ESPN 1000 had that maybe Eddie Olczyk could be in line for the assistant general manager job but in several interview it sounds like Eddie is very happy teaming with Pat Foley for Hawks games while also being the head color guy for NBC/Versus. As long as Eddie still had time to call all the Hawks games I would have been all for it.
Is anyone else concerned about the amount of Hawks personal that has gone to the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise over the last 2 seasons?
